Happy New Year

Let the reading begin!!! Here is to another year filled with amazing new reads and reacquainting with some old favorites. I cannot wait to dig into my reading pile that is literally taller than I am. I have many challenges set for me this year and I hope to accomplish all that I have obliged myself to complete. Rock on 2009

2009 Young Adult Book Challenge

Ok, here is another challenge that I have signed up for. My reading tastes have changed in the past year and I found myself reading more and more YA novels. It first began as a project to screen books for my godchild, but now I truly adore them. I have a huge pile already in front of me ready to go and I hope that I am able to complete the task at hand. I don't believe that it will be a difficult challenge for me.

Guidelines for 2009 Young Adult Book Challenge

1. Anyone can join. You don't need a blog to participate.
2. Read 12 Young Adult novels. No need to list your books in advance. You may select books as you go. Even if you list them now, you can change the list if needed.
3. Challenge begins January thru December, 2009.
4. You can join anytime between now and December 31, 2009.

Audio Book Challenge

I've become an audio book addict on my way to and from work. So, this seemed like a good one for me. J.Kaye's Book Blog is hosting this one. You can join by clicking the the audio book challenge image. Here's some info about the challenge:

Here are the guidelines:
1) You can join anytime as long as you don’t start listening to your books prior to 2009.
2) This challenge is for 2009 only. The last day to have all your books read is December 31, 2009.

5) You do not have to list your books ahead of time. If you decide to, you can change them as you go.
6) Our goal is to listen to 12 audiobooks in 2009. No need to list your books now. You can do so as you go.

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
