COVER CHANGE: A new LOOK for LIAR

I guess that after much dislike presented on the authors side and bloggers and readers alike that Bloomsbury decided to make a cover change to Justine Larbalestier's book LIAR. I personally like the change because I believe that it represents the story better.
"Bloomsbury Children’s Books has told Publishers Weekly exclusively that it will change the controversial cover of Justine Larbalestier’s Liar. Bloggers, commentors and the author herself had criticized the publisher’s choice of a white girl with long, straight tresses for a novel about an African-American girl with “nappy” hair."

I'm glad they changed it, they need more diverse covers out there.

I liked the new one better too. Though I haven't read the book, I new it was about an african-american girl, and I also thought the cover was a bit off.
It's a nice change :o)

Stylistically I like the old cover better but for the book.. the new one is so much better!

I am also glad it was changed, but if they had never decided on the whitewash, it would have never happened in the first place. Look at all the money they spent to change this. Fail on Bloomsbury

Thank goodness. Diversity on covers, and covers having resonance with the book they represent, is a must.

I wonder if the publicity for this book will be good for it or if since there's all this controversy over the cove if people won't buy it. Is any type of publicity good?

Bloomsbury did the right thing on this. This is good news indeed! Great cover.

I'm glad they changed it too. They HAVE to be true to the book.

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
