BOOK TRAILERS: What do you think about them?

After I spent a few hours checking out book trailers on Youtube (something I love to do) I ended up with a list of books that I was very interested in. This action made me think about this growing market of book trailers and how it can impact book sales. Book trailers are one of the best visual medias around for promoting books and they are being used more and more often. I personally like watching them and on more than one occasion it has made me purchase a book I would have passed over before. A well made trailer i.e. visually stunning, flows well and follows the storyline is a sure bet with me.

But book trailers can also have a downside, just like un unattractive book cover would be overlooked in a bookstore a poorly made trailer might cause me to overlook that book. Just like going to see the trailers before a movie you will remember the ones that grab your attention and want to see them, the same for a book trailer.

So again my curious mind wants to know:

What do you think about book trailers?

Do they influence your book purchasing habits? or do they hinder them?

What is your favorite trailer? and why?

I love book trailers - although in Australia, they're never on tv or anything - I know I wanted to read tension of Opposites after seeing the trailer. And the UK trailer of The Sky is Everywhere is so cute!

I like book trailers, too. They make me want to read books that I'd overlook otherwise, more often than the contrary.

I love book trailers! I have a trailer Thursday feature where I like to show my favorite or new trailers and I always try to join the trailer to my reviews if I can find one.
A bad trailer never stopped me from reading a book, but good trailer definitely added some books to my monster wishlist.
Favorite trailer? I can't think of one from the top of my head, sorry!

I don't have a favorite trailer, but I like them nonetheless. I think the one that sticks in my mind was the one for Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters because it was so comical.

I don't mind book trailers. But I'll generally only watch them if I've heard of or are already interested in the book.

I think my favourites are for Shiver and Linger. They are amazing. Is there anything that woman can't do?!

I love book trailers. There have been a couple of books I was on the fence about getting and have been swayed to getting them after watching the book trailer.

My favourite book trailer is for Shiver. Everything about it is perfect and I especially loved the music that was used.

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
