Sneak a Peek Saturday: Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Sneak a Peek Saturday is a feature that lets "peek" into an upcoming book. Sometimes it is a chapter or two or maybe more.

This week I have selected ACROSS THE UNIVERSE by debut author Beth Revis. This Sci-fi novel is being toted as a sci-fi novel for teens that don't like sci-fi and since I fall into that category (except for being a teen) I was sceptically intrigued. Yet, once I read the first chapter I was left bereft of words and only wanted to read more. Let's see what you think? Just click on the image below and you will have the opportunity to read the first chapter of this amazing new book.

Seventeen-year-old Amy joins her parents as frozen cargo aboard the vast spaceship Godspeed and expects to awaken on a new planet, three hundred years in the future. Never could she have known that her frozen slumber would come to an end fifty years too soon and that she would be thrust into the brave new world of a spaceship that lives by its own rules.

Amy quickly realizes that her awakening was no mere computer malfunction. Someone—one of the few thousand inhabitants of the spaceship—tried to kill her. And if Amy doesn’t do something soon, her parents will be next.

Now, Amy must race to unlock Godspeed’s hidden secrets. But out of her list of murder suspects, there’s only one who matters: Elder, the future leader of the ship and the love she could never have seen coming

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
