With the Nightshade series, Andrea Cremer has done a bang up job of creating a world that while centered on the well used lore of the werewolf, was able to put a fresh spin on it and make it her own. Wolfsbane was the highly anticipated sequel to Nightshade and I was pleased with the results.

Wolfsbane takes place days after Nightshade had ended. Calla wakes up disoriented and in the lair of the Searchers, not good when they are your sworn enemy. Yet, they are not concerned with killing her or Shay and what they propose instead will leave your head spinning. Calla is torn, not sure of which way to turn or whom to trust and her thoughts keep going to her pack and Ren. She hates having left them all behind but the only way that she can go back and save them is by trusting the Searchers, but is that the best choice?

From the very first moment to the last Wolfsbane will leave you on the edge of your seat, with non-stop action and "Oh NO! she didn't just do that to me" stages of insanity. No time was lost in getting you caught up to speed and then you had to hit the ground running. I enjoyed being trained on the society of Searchers and how their history was incorporated into Wolfsbane. It was all very well done and quite exciting, and making me quite curious as to what the ultimate agenda was and if they could be trusted. Thus, I could empathize with Calla and her struggles to whom and if she could rely on the Searchers to help her and her pack. Besides the plethora of information coming forth from this community the supporting characters and their stories breathed new life and mystery into an already rooted storyline and kept it from being boring.

The only aspect of this series that I cannot seem to embrace is the relationship between Calla and Shay. I guess you can say that I am a Team Ren girl, even though I dislike siding on any teams. I honestly cannot seem to see those two characters together, maybe I am wrong, but it is highly suspect. Other than the obvious amour triangle I believe that this is one of the best paranormal stories around full of interesting characters and a story that is quite good and I cannot read for Blood Rose. The suspsense is going to be the death of me...
