Tamani looked at her gravely, and reached up to tuck her hair behind her ear.

He hesitated for an instant, then his hands found the sides of her face, pulling her to him. He didn't kiss her, just held her face close to his, their foreheads resting together, their noses almost touching.

She hated how much it felt like good-bye.

Laurel now knows the truth: Yuki is a rare Winter faerie, the most powerful—and deadly—of all, and Klea plans to use her to help conquer and destroy Avalon. But Klea's reach extends far beyond one wild Winter faerie. With Tamani, David, and Chelsea by her side, Laurel prepares to face what may be Avalon's final days, in the stunning conclusion to the Wings series.
My Thoughts:

It is always bittersweet to have a favored series end and I truly felt the pull of those emotions as I finished DESTINED by Aprilynne Pike.  This series held a special place in my heart because it was one of the first few that I reviewed when I started blogging years ago and I believe that everything was wrapped up well and I would not have ended it any other way.

Upon finishing ILLUSIONS, the third book in this series, I was left a bit perplexed because the book ended in the middle of a crucial scene but upon talking to Aprilynne about this matter she had explained that there really was no other place to stop. As you can imagine I was most eager to get back to this world and it's ultimate conclusion with DESTINED.

As we return back to Laurel's world we learn of Klea's plans of devastation and how she wants to use Yuki to deliver those crazed intentions. It is them up to Laurel, Tamini and David along with the whole of Avalon to stop Klea from attaining her goals, no matter what the cost.

While ILLUSIONS tore at my heart with laurel constantly rebuffing Tamini in favor of David I was most pleased to see her reconsider her choices in DESTINED. I always adored Tamini but that is not to say that David wasn't deserving because I really adored him also. That is why the epilogue of this series absolutely devastated me. There was such a dark edge to it and the emotions were so raw and painful to read that I was just a mess. A completely different tone that the entire series hosted and despite my sadness, I believe that it was the best part of the series.  It makes me eager to see what Aprilynne Pike has for us next.

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
