Sam leads a pretty normal life. He may not have the most exciting job in the world, but he’s doing all right—until a fast food prank brings him to the attention of Douglas, a creepy guy with an intense violent streak.

Turns out Douglas is a necromancer who raises the dead for cash and sees potential in Sam. Then Sam discovers he’s a necromancer too, but with strangely latent powers. And his worst nightmare wants to join forces . . . or else.

With only a week to figure things out, Sam needs all the help he can get. Luckily he lives in Seattle, which has nearly as many paranormal types as it does coffee places. But even with newfound friends, will Sam be able to save his skin?

My Thoughts:

HOLD ME CLOSER, NECROMANCER by Lish McBride is a delightfully dark comedy of a read and I am seriously kicking myself for not having picked up this book sooner.

Set in Seattle with a motely crew of friends of which Sam seems to hold center court. Then a crazy prank brings Douglas into his life and things are never the same again. Douglas is a volatile necromancer who believes that Sam is also of the same nature, and unfortunately for Sam he has no idea what Douglas is talking about. Sam finds the whole encounter unsettling and crazy, but things get crazier when Douglas demonstrates his powers and Sam and his friends have no choice but to believe.

Talk about a dark and funny read. HOLD ME CLOSER, NECROMANCER is a perfect read for fans of Christopher Moore because it is truly twisted and funny. A story with some of the most outlandish characters navigating through situations that are just so entertaining and wicked. I enjoyed this world that Lish McBride has created because it is fresh and unique with some truly macabre moments of hilarity that you forget that your dealing with a truly deranged madman. Next throw in some wolves with a unique pedigree especially one in particular that Sam think is smokin' hot and you can be sure that you are in for a bumpy ride.

Now, I cannot wait for the sequel in this series NECROMANCING THE STONE. It will be a pure treat to return to this cast of characters and I can only imagine what will happen

next. SQUEEE!!

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
