That’s the day the trouble started.
The trouble that nearly ruined my life.
The trouble that turned me Dark.
The trouble that begs me for revenge.

Celia Door enters her freshman year of high school with giant boots, dark eyeliner, and a thirst for revenge against Sandy Firestone, the girl who did something unspeakable to Celia last year.

But then Celia meets Drake, the cool new kid from New York City who entrusts her with his deepest, darkest secret. When Celia’s quest for justice threatens her relationship with Drake, she’s forced to decide which is sweeter: revenge or friendship.

HALEY'S REVIEW:

Remember in high school there was that one bully who you wanted revenge on? Well that is exactly what The Sweet Revenge of Celia Door is about. It's one of those stories were you know exactly how the character feels.

Celia Door better known as Celia the Dark, has no friends and writes poetry. Oh, and is out to take down Mandy the one who made her dark, with the most perfect, bitter sweet revenge imaginable. Until Celia meets Drake, an amazing, good looking boy who has just moved into town from New York City. Soon Celia discovers that for the first time she has a friend and the perfect pawn for her revenge. That is, until drake tells Celia his deepest darkest secret and Celia realizes how much Drake trusts her. Now she's torn between getting her revenge and keeping her only friend.

As any story about revenge goes,Celia's plan blows up in her face when Mandy steals her poetry notebook and hangs the poem about Drakes secret all over the school.  Celia is Crushed when Drake refuses to speak to her after the incident. When Celia finally gets drake to speak to her again, she finally tells Drake her deepest, and yes, darkest secret. She tells him everything about what Mandy has done to her and why she so badly wants revenge.

I am so impressed with Karen Finneyfrock for writing a story so well crafted that so many can relate to what Celia is going threw. I'm especially impressed because this is also her first novel. This book is a fun trip down memory lane and a chance to experience Celia's own story for revenge. Celia is defiantly one of those characters that you can relate to and feel like her story is your story too.

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
