This time, it’s Little Red Riding Hood set in the distant future. And yes, there is a big, bad Wolf.

Cinder, the cyborg mechanic, returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison -- even though she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive if she does.

In another part of the commonwealth, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. Although Scarlet has lived on her grandmother’s farm for years, it turns out there are many dangerous secrets there that she never knew. While Scarlet struggles to make ends meet, she encounters Wolf, a city street fighter with information that could help. Though Scarlet is loath to trust this stranger, she is also inexplicably drawn to him, and he to her.

The fates of Cinder and Scarlet collide as the threat of the vicious Lunar Queen Levana spreads across the earth…
Scarlet is the second book in Meyer's The Lunar Chronicles young-adult series.Cinder reappears in the next futuristic tweaking of a familiar fairy tale — as does Prince Kai, the evil lunar ruler Queen Levana, and a heap of intergalactic intrigue.

My Thoughts:

Marissa Meyer has enthralled me with SCARLET. I was initially hesitant, filled with trepidatious anxiety at the thought of leaving the endearing and unique world that was so convincingly delivered on the pages before my very eyes.   Yet, I am more than happy to admit that I need not have worried myself, because her newest endeavor has more than surpassed any expectations I could have ever dreamed up.

SCARLET is told from a dual point of view; SCARLET, the fiery and headstrong entrepreneur and the runaway lunar princess CINDER. I knew I had adored Cinder but it was nothing compared to SCARLET and her "yeah im in charge of my destiny and don't you stand in my way as I get my grandmother" attitude. She was vivacious and totally kick ass while captivating an alpha wolf that was a serious hottie (score!). I am more than pleased with the romantic bits that those two had going on during this novel along with the wicked cool plot line that cleverly entertwines Scarlet and Cinder together.

Marrisa Meyer has done a fantastic job at expanding on this clever and unique world and SCARLET only makes this series better. This novel was such a quick read for me despite it's impressive size for I could not stop reading until I reached the very end. My hands were sore from the impressive grip that I had on my book especially as I reached the tumultuous end. WOW!!! CRESS cannot get here soon enough.

If you have read CINDER than you have to read SCARLET immediately. It's a no brainer, you will be left grinning from ear to ear and wishing that a certain alpha wolf boy would want to be your mate.

I'm nearly done with this and really enjoying it. It hasn't blown me away like Cinder did though. So glad you loved it!

I would love to see what you have to say :)

“Reading is everything. Reading makes me feel like I've accomplished something, learned something, become a better person. Reading makes me smarter. Reading gives me something to talk about later on. Reading is the unbelievably healthy way my attention deficit disorder medicates itself. Reading is escape, and the opposite of escape; it's a way to make contact with reality after a day of making things up, and it's a way of making contact with someone else's imagination after a day that's all too real. Reading is grist. Reading is bliss.”
